One of the key ingredients was locating the bar which we stressed be both open to welcome guests and keep the main dining room visible and contiguous with the space. This created the required secondary space for mingling and casual dining that was requested.
We admired the incredible attention to every detail of management designed to make the service impeccable, and yet fade so as not to distract from dining. Workstations were designed to accommodate this, and a private dining room , to feel more like a family dining than corporate board room was included with its own workstation and storage.
We designed the “theatrical” clamp lighting to spotlight tables and shelving and be flexible to accommodate changes. The restaurants interior designer accented this with decorative wall mounted fixtures and elegant contemporary and classic furniture.
Cosme went on to become number one and remains one of the top New York restaurants.
